Yutori Flowers :

An Approximation of Ikebana

This project stems from the Japanese word yutori (ゆとり) which means ‘room’ or ‘spaciousness’. Thinking of flower arranging as a way to create more space in each moment, in time itself, in my mind and in the minds of the people beholding the arrangement is my intention.

Ikebana Experiment

Each arrangement has a center, a specific flower, a theme, a season as a catalyst and inspiration for the flowers that join it. While these arrangements aren’t strictly followed by the rules of Ikebana, they are freeform interpretations of the Japanese flower arranging style.

ゆとり

時間、空間、お金、心などに十分な余裕があり、窮屈でない状態を指す言葉です

Along with the approximation of Ikebana arrangements, I have created a series called ‘El Campo’ - a more rural and wild take on flower arrangements.
